About the Orchestra

Phoenix Recorder Orchestra have recently recorded a CD (more information here),
which we hope will be available in June 2017. The Orchestra is also
featured with Helen Hooker in Steve Marshall’s Concerto no.2 on the
Helen and Friends CD

The Phoenix Recorder Orchestra was formed in 2003 and mostly consists of players from the South West. Our conductor is Pam Smith and our resident composer/arranger is Steve Marshall.

We now also have a chamber orchestra of 10-14 players which meets in the morning before main orchestra rehearsals; it performs with the full orchestra but also gives separate performances.

Both groups play a wide range of repertoire on the full range of recorders, from the tiny garklein to our three Sub-great bass recorders, which blend to give a beautiful, rich sound.

Membership of the orchestra is by invitation, but if you would like to find out more about it please contact Val Giltrow-Tyler via email  (info©phoenixrecorderorchestra•org•uk)
