The Phoenix Recorder Orchestra was founded in 2003 by Pam Smith and Steve Marshall, and mostly consists of players from the South West. There is also a chamber orchestra of 10-14 players which meets in the morning before main orchestra rehearsals, and gives separate performances, although all members also perform with the full orchestra.

Both groups play a wide range of repertoire on the full range of recorders from the tiny garklein to the sub-great bass, which blend to give a beautiful rich sound.

Both orchestras were conducted by Pam Smith until her resignation in June 2017. We are delighted to announce that Michelle Holloway has been appointed as our new musical director, and we look forward to working with her.

Membership of the orchestra is by invitation, but if you would like to find out more about it please contact info©phoenixrecorderorchestra•org•uk  (info©phoenixrecorderorchestra•org•uk)
